Hello, My wife and I will be taking a cruise for our 25th anniversary. We have cruise before with inside, outside, & balcony cabins with Carnival and a mini suite with Princess.
I have booked a balcony cabin on the Valor, but my question is should we upgrade to a suite? The difference in price is about $350.00 a person. Is there much difference besides just a larger cabin? The larger balcony does not matter to us since my wife is afraid of heights (although I love the balcony). I want to make it special but don't want to just spend money. Thanks for your help.
Returned from the Miracle 3 weeks ago. It was the first time we booked a suite and we loved it for the following reasons: large separate bathroom with double sinks and a whirlpool tub - separate dressing room so someone could be bathing while the other person is dressing - more closet space than we could fill and more dresser space than we could use -enjoyed the larger balcony. The best "perk" of this class is the VIP Boarding. After going through the metal detector, we were escorted to a private waiting room and were processed and boarded the ship is less than 10 minutes. Hundreds of people waiting in the common area and we breezed right on to the ship. However, be careful that you get priority consideration when disembarking. Check with the Guest Relations a few days before or there might be problems. We never received the letter we should have gotten giving us a priority number and were given a regular number to get off the ship. Checked with Carnival upon my return and we told that the "ship messed up" in our case and we never got what we were entitled to. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Hey there. Last October I had to make the same decision for our 25th anniversary. Carnival actually called me and asked if I wanted to upgrade to a suite. They only wanted $200.00 more per person, so it was a no brainer. I really say to go for it, just for this one special occasion. Even at $350.00 per person. The suite is sweet.

I would do the suit if you can. We take the cat 11and we love it, inclding the whirlpool tub, what a private way to RELAX, watch the moom at night and ------.
Its worthy it for us # 7 comming up in NOV 2010 on DREAM, have made arrangements ready to go

Granny of the Seas gave you the best description of what you will receive with a suite.
I have cruised four times on Carnival and three times I've booked a suite (Cat 11). I really like the additional room and two of the three suites were an aft, wraparound, balcony. An aft wraparound is wonderful but if your wife is too afraid to enjoy it then a regular Cat 11 is good.
For this special occasion I say go for the suite. I did an AC suite on our anniversary cruise with NCL and it was great. The good part about NCL is that they have "A LOT" more perks if you book the suite. Having said this, Carnival does have a nice cabin for a Cat 11 or Cat 12.
Take care and Happy Anniversary!!!!
Mike

You didn't say when you were sailing. We have a group sailing on the Valor on 11/8, and the price of the cat. 11 cabins came down drastically within the past 2 weeks (that made it about 8 weeks prior to sailing). If you're working with a TA, ask them to check the inventory for cat. 11 cabins for you. If there are still a lot left, and you have a ways to go before you sail, just keep an eye on the pricing.
We had a balcony on the Valor and really enjoyed. Had pleanty of room and the balcony allowed us a great view of the water. Had plenty of closet for us. This is your 25th so it all comes down to, do you want to spend the extra money. Call your cruise planner at carnival and ask if they will do a deal for you, as stated above they may offer you an upgrade for only $200 per!! Have a great cruise

If I could get it for $350 for BOTH I might consider it, but even then would probably vote no. But the general cost of basically that much extra for each just isn't worth it for my wife and me. We are perfectly happy with a decent balcony room.

i dont know what cruise you're one, but my daughter myself and my cousin are booked on the 12/13 pride out of baltimore... we had booked a pretty low cat.8... got upgraded at the time of booking to the extended balcony and had a room we loved... i was on carnivals' site looking at some cruises for next summer for my daughters 6th bday, and just for the heck of it checked our cruise and it seemed like prices dropped a bit so I emailed my TA who is AMAZING to begin with and asked her about the price difference... she said once you've paid in full you can't get a credit for the price going down but you can upgrade so I could have upgraded free to a cat. 9a, or to the cat. 11 (which is what i oringinally wanted but my cousin didn't want to spend the extra 1400$) for $250 for the entire cabin..
yes, 250 for the ENTIRE CABIN. NOT PER PERSON... so yes... now we're confirmed for the cat. 11
you may want to look into it again, if its 700 more for the cabin, if they can't sell it they will aparently drop it a lot.. now my cruise total is a touch over 2011 and on the carnival website, the same room on teh other side of the ship is now 2400 with taxes and 3 people... so yea, your TA may be able to make miracles happen GOODLUCK!
This will be my third time in a penthouse suite (cat12) on RC it's called something else. Love it , Love it! well worth the money for us. Had friends in a cat 11 on Fantasy didn't like looking down and seeing the deck of the ship. I want to look down and see water. I would do cat 12 if you can!
